PSS Packaging Studio

Upload CAD or mesh data, choose the rack family, loading configuration and base architecture, then tune the packout and design emphasis while the 3D concept stays visible.

No part model loaded
Upload STEP/STP, IGES/IGS, STL, OBJ, GLB or glTF. Browser CAD imports are tessellated locally for concept work; Parasolid and native SolidWorks files can be selected but require the future secure server converter.

STEP and IGES use their file units. For mesh files, changing units updates the loaded geometry. Manual dimensions are inches. Parts are never shrunk to fit.
Packaging Type
Select the overall packaging architecture. Base construction is controlled separately below.
Dual-side load is a loading configuration, not a rack type. Flipper, tower, shelf, glass and other compatible concepts can mirror dunnage around the centerline.
Not sure yet is modeled as low profile so the packout datum is set; PSS confirms the base during review. Low profile and truss / GM style are separate architectures. Notched versions use a rectangular 90° plan-view recess in the short side rails, away from the primary crossmember direction. Runner bar is the truss architecture carried on sled runners - a flat bar along each edge whose ends turn up to meet the frame - instead of a plain tube on the floor; it has no notched variant. Bin and tote families use their own molded/fabricated base and hide this control.
4-way fork accesssame C-C spacing on all sides
One center-to-center setting drives the fork geometry from all four sides. Orthogonal 2 × 2 support tubes remain in the base for a continuous structural load path.
Turn on for a rolling base. WIP dolly concepts enable casters automatically.
Enabled by default for rack families and attached to the folding upper post on collapsible racks.
Packout
The packout engine will duplicate the uploaded model to this target, up to 2,000. If the packaging holds fewer, it shows how many fit.
Space kept around each part, between parts and to the walls. Shrink it to pack tighter; Suggest sizes from it. Final clearance requires engineering review.
Auto-orient tests multiple axis rotations and chooses the largest usable fit.
Contact / fit
0.25 in intentional gap. Generated contact pads stop outside the part instead of intersecting it.
Rack envelope
Standard racks stop at 109 in tall. Tick to go higher, up to 120 in.
The same envelope you set in step 2, repeated here so you can judge it against the real packout. Untick Auto-fit to type your own.
Auto-fit grows a footprint when needed and trims excess top space. While it is ticked, length, width and height are set for you and cannot be typed into - untick it to enter your own. Dunnage, spacing and callouts regenerate immediately. A fork pocket base holds a 30 in minimum width so the pockets keep a usable fork spacing.
Finish
Applies to the painted steel structure. Dunnage keeps its material colors. The chosen color is recorded on the exported PDF.

Reading geometry.
Concept limitations: The rack is procedurally generated around the imported part geometry and requested density. Physical model scale is preserved after the selected unit conversion. Generated steel is intentionally kept outside the part bounding volume and only designated soft pads/rollers approach the commodity. Clearance/contact logic is still conceptual and this build does not validate structural loading, weldments, dynamic transportation forces, ergonomics, or production feasibility. PSS engineering review remains required.
