Bulk Containers

Plastic bulk containers in every standard footprint, from 32 x 30 up to the extended-length 56, 57, 62, 64, 65, 70 and 78 x 48 sizes built for long parts, rated from 1,200 lb general-purpose to 2,500 lb heavy-duty boxes with steel runners and hit plates. Collapsible models fold flat when empty, so the return leg costs a fraction of what it does on a rigid box; fixed-wall models trade that for a stiffer box. Bases take four-way fork entry, and drop doors on the sidewall let an operator pick without unstacking. Open-side models swap a wall for a steel frame so the dunnage inside can be reached from the side. This is the workhorse for body-in-white stampings, castings and heavy sub-assemblies.

Straight-Wall Containers & Pallets

Straight-wall totes in the standard 12 x 15, 24 x 15, 24 x 22, 32 x 15 and 48 x 15 footprints, in heights from 4 to over 20 inches. They stack square on a 48 x 45 pallet and cap, which is what makes them the default for small stampings, fasteners and machined parts moving in a returnable loop.

Collapsible Containers

Knockdown containers and complete pallet, sleeve and cap systems. The sleeve folds flat and the pallet and cap stay rigid, so an empty system ships at a small fraction of its loaded cube.

Attached-Lid Totes & Dollies

Hinged-lid totes that close without a separate cover to lose, plus matching dollies. Used where a container has to stay closed in transit and be opened and reclosed repeatedly on the line.

Nesting & Stack-Nest Totes

Totes with tapered walls that drop inside one another when empty, so a returned load takes a fraction of the trailer space it shipped in. Modular nesting containers cube a 48 x 45 or 32 x 30 pallet and carry up to 120 lb; nesting totes take a snap-on lid; stack-and-nest totes stack loaded and nest empty with a half turn.

Automation Containers & Trays

Containers and trays built to the tolerances that conveyors, shuttles, ASRS and goods-to-person systems need. Metric footprints, dimensionally stable sidewalls, recessed handles that do not foul a gripper, and ESD options for electronics.

Pallets

Nestable, rackable and stackable plastic pallets. Nestable pallets return in a fraction of the space of wood, rackable pallets carry load in beam racking, and nothing in the family needs heat treatment to cross a border.

Intermediate Bulk Containers

Collapsible intermediate bulk containers for liquids, powders and granular product, filled into a disposable liner and emptied from the top or through a bottom valve, plus funnel-base containers that meter seed, pellets and small parts out of a side door. They stack loaded, collapse or nest empty, and replace drums, totes and one-way bulk bags.

Bakery Trays & Dollies

Ventilated bakery trays and matching dollies for high-turn food distribution.

Food Handling Containers

Vented cooling trays, produce lugs and nesting containers molded from FDA-approved material for poultry, meat, seafood and produce, with matching lids and dollies.

Outside the standard range

The listings above are new product from stock tooling. Two things fall outside that, and both come up often enough to be worth saying plainly.

Reconditioned containers

Used bulk containers, inspected, cleaned and repaired back to service. They cost less than new, and because they come off the floor rather than out of a mold, they ship in days instead of weeks. On a program with a hard launch date that is often worth more than the piece price.

The trade is choice. Reconditioned stock is usually black, color matching is not available, and what is on hand changes week to week, so availability has to be checked at the time rather than assumed. Drop door position and tag layout are limited to how the containers were originally built. Most standard sizes above, including the extended-length 56, 70 and 78 x 48 footprints, are regularly available reconditioned.

Best for: short lead times, budget-led programs, and sizes no longer molded new.

Sizes beyond the standard footprints

Plastic bulk containers are molded in a fixed set of footprints, and the longest standard one is 78 x 48 in. Nothing wider than 48 in, and nothing longer than 78 in, is molded as a standard plastic container, and no amount of volume changes that. A 96 x 48 footprint exists as a pallet or a steel basket, not as a plastic bin.

Those go down a different route: a steel basket or a steel rack designed around the part. PSS designs and builds custom steel racks, baskets and dunnage in house, so an oversized line does not have to be handed to a second supplier and re-coordinated.
